About Our Volunteer Program

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter. Volunteers are critical to the work we do; we absolutely could not care for the number of cats we do without these dedicated individuals!

Volunteer Requirements & Process

Eligibility

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Subject to background check approval

Getting Started

  1. Complete the volunteer application
  2. Await notification via email
  3. Attend mandatory orientation session
  4. Work with volunteer coordinator to identify your preferred task
  5. Receive training in your chosen area
  6. Begin regular volunteering schedule

Volunteer Opportunities

Individual Volunteering

  • Shift Duration: 1-4 hours
  • Frequency: Weekly or as-needed basis
  • Tasks: Determined during orientation based on your interests/skills

Morning Shifts

  • Litter Box Sanitation
  • Kennel Sanitation
  • AM Feeding/Watering
  • AM Operational Support
  • AM Utility Room
  • Water Fountain Maintenance

Midday Shifts

  • Midday Medical Feeding
  • Midday Utility Room
  • PM Medical Feeding/Operational Support
  • PM Feeding

Afternoon Shifts

  • PM Utility Room
  • PM Litterbox Scooping

Auxiliary Shifts

  • Administrative Assistance
  • Aluminum Can Processing
  • Events and Community Outreach
  • Pet Pantry
  • General Cleaning
  • Spot Cleaning
  • Maintenance and Landscaping
