The Food for People's Pets Program operates out of The Michael Cannon Community Pet Food Pantry at The Hermitage shelter. This year-round program collects and distributes pet food and supplies to families in need.
Distribution Schedule
- Regular Hours: 3rd Thursday every month, 10 AM - 2 PM

Enrollment Requirements
Income Verification (Required since January 18, 2018)
Participants must meet income guidelines following Arizona Department of Economic Security formula:
- Eligibility: Families at or below 130% of federal poverty level
- Example: Family of 3 making less than $2,494/month
Accepted Documentation
Participants must bring letters or benefit stubs proving receipt of qualifying assistance programs (specific programs not detailed on the page).
Additional Requirements
- Spay/Neuter Proof: Must provide documentation
- Original paperwork preferred
- Your Veterinarian can examine your pet and issue a certificate if original unavailable
- In-Person Enrollment:
- Applicant must appear personally
- Paperwork verification required on-site (letters, benefit stubs, etc.)
Program Limitations
- Client Cap: 200 families maximum (dependent on food availability)
- Current Status: Open for enrollment (subject to change)
