The Hermitage’s Eminently Adoptable Cats
The shelter has many beautiful, healthy cats who are readily adoptable and need loving homes. You can feel good knowing that adopting a cat from The Hermitage is a rewarding way to save the lives of two cats! Not only are your directly giving the cat you are adopting a home for the rest of his/her life, you also open up a space at the shelter for another needy waif.

Special needs cats are adopted by special people
In addition to our eminently adoptable cats and kittens, our FIV+ and feline leukemia cats are looking for homes too! They just need to be the only cat in the home or go to a home where the other cats also have the same condition. There are many lovely cats in the SO area (urinary tract problems) who crave attention; these cats just require a special diet to maintain their health and prevent urinary crystals. We also have special needs cats who have a lot of love to give, but require someone with extra patience. There are senior cats looking for quiet, stable homes and black cats who are usually overlooked by potential adopters. You may also view cats at Adopt-A-Pet & Pet Finder.

How does the adoption program work?

  • Come to the shelter between 10 am and 4 pm any day but Wednesday. (except New Year’s, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day).
  • You will be given a guided tour, during which you are introduced to the cats.
  • If you and one (or more) of our feline residents bond, you may complete an application for adoption.
  • If you rent or lease, please bring a copy of your lease that shows you are allowed to have animals, a note from your landlord or be ready to have us call the landlord for approval.
  • Upon approval you can take your lifetime friend(s) home!

You may also meet some of our adoptable cats at PETCO! Current locations are Wrightsown & Pantano;  Broadway & Craycroft; and near The Tucson Mall . The staff at Petco will do the adoption paperwork and send it to the shelter, if during shelter hours we will review it immediately. Upon approval you will beable to take your kitty(ies) home. If after shelter hours the cat(s) will be placed on hold until the next day when the application can be reviewed.
